The Self-Contained Backyard

‘The Self-Contained Backyard’ investigates the interactive capabilities of feedback systems. Its set-up is rather simple: it consists of microphones, speakers, environmental sensors and a digital processing unit. However, due to its open nature, the system is in permanent exchange with its surroundings. It detects certain environmental factors and brings forth complex evolving sonorities by recording, playing back and recording again sounds on the same site.
