Clong is a family of rhombuses akin to bells, gongs and cymbals. It is as much about the device as about the environment that it creates. Striking it makes the Pauclong dance around, revealing
tremolo and doppler effects. Easy to carry around and made to illuminate rooms and sound out their reflections.
As someone coming from a background of synthesizers, where a lot of energy is invested to develop complex devices around the smallest building blocks of sound, Pauclongs are an attempt to
approach sound from the opposite direction: they are comparably simple, yet reveal the richest and most complex sounds. Disharmonic, unclear fundamentals, colliding partials.
